Emily Yue is a Toronto-based Chinese-Canadian jeweller, designer and artist. Originally a painter focused on the human body and gestural movement, her interest in sculpture, wearable art and the versatility in the shaping of fine metals drew her towards jewellery. Emily's background as a painter brings a strong graphic sense to her jewellery work while still preserving the inherent three-dimensionality of the jewellery medium. Transferring her interests in the human body into jewellery, she is inspired by the organic forms of the body and those found in nature, often working in the style of art nouveau and its visual language of stem systems. Emily often creates work involving wire-forging and hand-forming of sterling silver with a desire to create lively statement pieces. Emily is currently a 3rd-year material art and design student with a jewellery focus at the Ontario College of Art and Design University.
